IELTS is the world’s proven English language test. Over 1.4 million candidates take the test each year. Their purpose for taking the test is either for international education, employment or migration. IELTS was the first 4 skills English language test and continues to set the standard for English language testing today. IELTS is jointly owned by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL) and is delivered through more than 800 Test Centres and locations in over 130 countries.

IELTS tests all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking. The Speaking test is a face-to-face interview with a certified Examiner.

IELTS offers two modules – Academic, which is suitable  for those who want to study or work in an English-speaking environment; and General Training, which is for those who need to communicate in  English in social and workplace contexts. It is often the module taken by those who are going to English-speaking countries for secondary education, work experience or training programs. It is also the module used by several countries - Australia, the UK, Canada and New Zealand - as a requirement for migration.
